If LSU fans don't want Pelini...

why would Nebraska want him? Don't believe me? Go check out one of the most popular LSU message boards on the Web here and read their thoughts on Jesus Pelini and how enamored most of them are. You can even do a search for "Pelini" to find every topic in which his soft zone defenses, arrogance, poor game planning and unimaginative defenses are discussed in detail. #1 defense in the country you say? Well with the sick amount of talent in Baton Rouge, why should anyone complain? Maybe there is more than meets the eye.

I'm not an "LSU fan" but I like when they succeed being from LA but I would not want to Bo Pelini as the new head coach. I think he is one of the teams problems right now!! Here is something I read on ESPN this morning...
Among other names to surface in media reports are Rutgers' Greg Schiano, Cincinnati's Brian Kelly, Boise State's Chris Petersen, Navy's Paul Johnson and South Florida's Jim Leavitt.

A Nebraska would be good for the program (Turner Gill) but I really believe Johnson would win. I don't think he would run the same exact offense he runs at Navy but I do think he would bring toughness and discipline, something it looks like they have lacked in recent years.

I love watching Navy play b/c they are undersized and have few athletes at best and no one can stop them. The only time people stop them is when they turn the ball over. They move the ball against teams they have no business moving the ball on. I bet that every top 10 team in DII (maybe an exaggeration) has more athletic ability than Navy and Navy moves the ball at will against whoever they play.

Paul Johnson is the man for the job but I am afraid that they are going to go with someone who has been around the program, not that this would be a bad descision but PJ would be a great fit!!

Oh please. Just because Johnson was never, that's right never, considered for the Nebraska job it's then OK to take shots at probably the only candidate that TO could hire that the greater majority of NU fans would support? Quit whining.

Tell Johnson that if wasn't such a prick that he might have gotten considered.

Nebraska has a good offense already. Johnson, no doubt, would be a great offensive mind to have at Nebraska. HOWEVER, Nebraska's problem is DEFENSE, which is the exact same problem that navy has right now as well.

I love this website and think the arguments for Johnson are strong. To be persuasive, though, you are going to have to address Johnson's glaring weakness -- an apparent inability to field a decent defense.

One more point:

Earlier, Jim Grobe was discounted by this site because he is "58 years old." That is wrong. He is 55 years old and just signed a 10 year deal. It is likely, therefore, that he could be at Nebraska for 10 years.

Paul Johnson is great, but he apparently cannot coach a defense. Jim Grobe went 11-1 last year with recruits ranked in the 70s-90s.

Osborne will hire Grobe.

Also, Paul Johnson reportedly isn't being interviewed -- could it be that he expressed no interest in the job when Tom sent out the search firm to guage interest?
